Code of Ethics

NAR's Code of Ethics, adopted in 1913, was one of the first codifications of ethical duties adopted by any business group. The Code ensures that consumers are served by requiring REALTORS® to cooperate in furthering clients' best interests.

JOIN BAOR

The Burbank Association of REALTORS® (BAOR) offers many different classes of membership: Designated REALTOR®, REALTOR®, Broker, Appraiser, MLS Assistant, MLS Only, and Affiliate, to name a few. In addition, we have honorary membership for those who qualify. Members of the BAOR pay dues to the Association for access to many highly sophisticated and valuable products and services, either free or fee-based.

BAOR COMMUNITY SERVICE FOUNDATION

The BAOR Community Service Foundation (CSF) aims to enhance the Burbank Community by improving the social, educational, cultural, and economic well-being of individuals or groups within the greater Burbank community.

BEING A REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONAL

The real estate industry encompasses a wide range of professionals, including brokers, team leaders, salespeople, trainers, property managers, appraisers, and more. Most practitioners concentrate on either the residential or commercial side of the business, though some work in both areas. It’s important to remember that not all real estate professionals are REALTORS®, a trademarked term that specifically identifies someone as a member of the National Association of REALTORS®, who pledges to abide by a strict Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.

The BAOR is a professional trade organization representing REALTOR® and Affiliate members engaged in the real estate business. We are honored to have been in existence serving our members and the community of Burbank since 1922. Our members are REALTORS®, as opposed to real estate salespersons. Dedicated to the ideals of the National Association of REALTORS® Code of Ethics. Being a REALTOR® is a source of pride and prestige. REALTOR® is a professional that you can trust.

The Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice outline duties that REALTORS® have to clients and customers, the public, and other REALTORS®. While the Code of Ethics establishes obligations that may be higher than those mandated by law, in any instance where the Code of Ethics and the law conflict, the obligations of the law must take precedence.

The Burbank Association of REALTORS® is a professional trade association of over 600 licensed real estate agents.

Our members abide by a strict code of ethics and have access to a wide variety of business services that are not available to non-REALTORS®. This gives them a competitive edge in the marketplace, enabling them to provide superior services to buyers and sellers of real property.

All real estate licensees are not the same. Only real estate licensees who are members of the National Association of REALTORS® are properly called REALTORS®. They proudly display the REALTOR "®" logo on their business card or other marketing and sales literature. REALTORS® are committed to treat all parties to a transaction honestly. REALTORS® subscribe to a strict code of ethics and are expected to maintain a higher level of knowledge of the process of buying and selling real estate.
